Computer bag for the travel to !
Just had a lady poke deep inside my left nostril, all cleared and approved for travel. Can't wait to meet the woman of my life for the first time in months.

Just changed CMOS battery in my # ThinkPad T440S and it's all working fine again! Expect more software oriented updates from here on out.

Seems like we have running nicely on my T440S. This could prove to be a lifesaver for my 9 hour flight... at least during layover hours. looks beautiful with the colorscheme as well.

CMOS Battery has arrived for my T440S .. really hoping I'll have time to install it before departure. 🇵🇹🇸🇪

FINALLY got the right battery for my T440S. Initially I ordered a model described as smaller than a 68+... it did not fit the T440S, so I have no idea what are talking about... but now I've got it and now I'm a couple of days away from being ready for a month or so in Portugal.

Latest update on my journey.

Quick recap: bought a used one from a 73 year old ex-military man that sells computers from foreclosed companies.

I bought a new SSD, experienced the FN, F4, F10 error code after, sorted that.

Everything was swell.

Now the CMOS battery gave out. Ordering one now.

Weekend was spent with a colleague, traveling Sweden.

@lord @TheOuterLinux #Libera uses MS for web hosting & they've jailed their web gateway in #cloudflare. #OFTC forces you to solve a Google #reCAPTCHA (thus #nonfreesoftware) to get a cloak -- & some channels (e.g. #gnucash) force you to register before you have a voice. So bad options all around.

what my girlfriend thought dating a software engineer would be like: "honey, I got an AI robot maid to do all our cooking for us"

what dating a software engineer is actually like: "if that microwave connects to the internet we're heating all our food with a blowtorch from now on"

So.. continuing on my journey: I got an old T440S from a 73 ex-military man named Mikko.

Installed on it, all went fairly smooth with archinstall... Thunderbird was slow as mud tho and after my first restart grub claimed it couldn't find the install..

Me and my coworker Phi stayed in Gothenburg over that weekend, boughy a new SSD. I installed it that sunday but ran into hardships as the dreaded FN, F1, F4 happened. We unplugged all batteries, plugged them back and presto!

Here's a doozie for all you people.

My friend tipped me off about a Swedish movie, Kenny Begins, a prequel to a Swedish cult classic childrens comedy series from the late 1990s.

We talked via Matrix using Element on my Artix linux install (laptop), Librewolf with uBlock game strong. Searched for the movie on the other computer, same browser setup but windows, searched for the movie on DDG and yet as I visit YouTube on my laptop my top result is a clip from that movie. No cookies.

Ordered a T440S yesterday. The seller was very professional and a complete delight to talk to. Turns out he has had a company running that is two months older than me (and I wasn't exactly born yesterday). An ex-military man killing his boredom at 73 years of age!

Bought an X240 for my Portuguese SO weeks earlier and as I will hopefully move there soon and join her, I need a decent laptop to work on. Fingers crossed I'll be satisfied when I've beefed it up!
